| I've been turning the handsets on public phones upside-down
for years. I do it on an almost daily basis. It's my favorite way to say
to folks, "Look - there's another way to interpret this largely cookie-cutter
world! You can do things differently than how you're supposed to!" So I made some trips out and about, expanding my crusade to capsize public objects. I documented some of my phones, and I have more pics that I haven't added here. I turned over a dispenser of The Onion (that still worked) and part of a stop sign. Then I hit the Safeway and flipped the products that were most interesting to me as I browsed the isles. This was fun. I particularly enjoyed my wall of upside-down malt liquors. Later, I saw an opportunity to turn a sign on a Muni train upside-down. It was an official sign, but it was just barely affixed to the wall, with tiny bits of tape. I was tempted to leave it alone, since it was an official sign. Then I noticed that the information on the sign was expired, and had been since 7/31/2007. It said so on the sign. So I flipped it. I'm still working on this task, as I continue find things to upend and the opportunity to do so! |
